The short version

Every number you type into the calculator — income, expenses, savings, goals — stays on your device. There is no account, no server-side database, and no backend that your inputs are sent to. The site does use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and Google AdSense to display advertising, and both of those set cookies. This page explains exactly what each one does.

Your calculator inputs never leave your device

The entire FIRE calculation runs in JavaScript in your browser. Your figures are not transmitted to us, are not stored on any server, and are not shared with advertisers, analytics providers or anyone else. We have no technical means of seeing them.

The calculator saves your inputs and your light/dark theme preference in your browser'slocalStorage so they are still there next time you open the site on the same device and browser. Clearing your browser data removes this completely.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages they read and roughly where in the world they are. It sets cookies and collects standard measurement data such as IP address (truncated by Google before storage), device and browser type, referring page, and pages viewed.

This data is aggregate and is used to decide what to build and write next. It is not linked to any figure you enter into the calculator, because those figures are never transmitted at all. You can read Google's description of how it processes this data in its partner sites policy, and you can opt out entirely with Google'sAnalytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

This site is free and is supported by display advertising served byGoogle AdSense. The following disclosures apply:

Advertising has no influence on the content of this site. There are no sponsored guides, no affiliate links and no paid placements, and advertisers have no access to anything you enter into the calculator.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served as static files by a hosting provider which, like any web host, may log standard technical information — IP address, browser type, request timestamps — for security and reliability. This is infrastructure-level logging, not something this site configures or uses for tracking.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA or similar laws to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. Because this site holds no account data and never receives your calculator inputs, the only relevant data is what Google collects through the analytics and advertising services described above — which you can control through the opt-out links in those sections, or through your browser's cookie settings.

We do not sell personal information, and we have no ability to do so.

Children's privacy

This is a general-purpose financial planning tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date above. Material changes will be described rather than made silently.
